I cant believe it! We have made it through 6 whole months with only a few bumps, bruises, scratches, oh and a fractured skull…but hey we are all still here and doing well.
Justin and I are slowly trudging through school one class at a time, well at least this semester. We both had to take a math class so we decided to take it slow so that we can stay focused. He is still working at the Utah State Developmental Center, but is quickly tiring of it. It comes home way too often covered in scratches and bruises caused by the aggressive residents he works with. The one up-side is the great insurance, which really is the only reason he is still there (that was very helpful for the above mentioned fractured skull incident…which is a long story but was mostly the fault of our very own Juno and bad judgment on my part). Hopefully it wont be too long before he can find a job with less violence and similar benefits. Justin has also made some goals this year about going to the gym. He has been very diligent and averages 5 or 6 times a week. He has yet to see the results he is wanting, but there is a definite difference. I am still working for IHC Homecare. I started in the Utah County region about 4 1/2 years ago and then about a year and a half ago they ran out of patients for me (the most recently hired) and transferred me to the Salt Lake region. I have not enjoyed the commute back and forth or many of the areas. They told me when they transferred me that if there ever became an opening again in Utah County that they would let me know. And finally last week I received an offer to come back to Utah County. I am pretty excited about that. I am tired of filling up my gas tank so often and wasting an extra 2 or so hours on driving. I also have been trying to hit the gym twice a week with Justin. I am doing pretty good, but I am not near as motivated as he is. When I have any extra time I like to spend it crafting. I got a cricut for my birthday and I love it! My most recent project is a 3D calendar. I think in the end it will be cute. I have also done Dextin’s name for his wall and a few decorations.
The numbers are magnets so you move them around depending on the month.
Now on to Dextin. He is one crazy baby. He is constantly up and down. He will be so happy one second and then screaming the next. Every day is different with him. He also has a love/hate relationship with food. He usually eats pretty good when I am home, but when I am not there tends to be a struggle. He loves to watch us eat just waiting for a little taste of what we are eating. He loves baby food, fruit especially, and he is getting quite good at keeping it in his mouth. We all cant wait until he can have finger foods, which is just around the corner. He can now sit up, though he does fall over quite often still. He is very busy and active and has his own version of crawling. He gets up on his hands and knees and then sways back and forth and face plants, which does get him a few inches further. He gets right back up and does it again, therefore reaching his intended destination. He is getting pretty fast at moving across the room and is already finding things that we prefer he didn’t, I guess its time to begin baby-proofing the house. He smiles all of the time, which is so cute since he recently acquired two bottom teeth…its nice to see a little progress from all of this annoying teething. He loves to taste anything he can get his hands on and loves to try to suck on your face while you aren’t paying attention…he is getting good at finding noses. He has a cute little laugh, but usually we can only get one or two out of him at a time. He loves to be held and would probably be content being held all day. A lot of times he will cry when we put him down, but he then realizes that sometimes that is fun too. Its crazy to think we have had him for half of a year already. He is getting too big and its sad, but at the same time so much fun to see what he will learn next.
Ohhhhh! Cute little Dextin! I love that little boy!
